Feeling a little parched? This little lady sure was. It was just a regular old week day, I think that I had just got Tory asleep for a nap. I was walking past the living room window and out of the corner of my eye I saw something by our fountain. I guess I did a double take and realized what was really out there. Thankfully I was a to get a picture before she was done having a drink.
This was our first summer to have Malie, we knew that Chance loved the water but didn't know about Malie. It didn't take long to figure it out as soon as we got to the river she went right in. Chance and her had so much fun going after the sticks that Carl would throw for them, Tory thought that it was great too.
In spring Tory was old enough to go to Nursery. I have to say I can only imagine what kindergarten will be like.... Carl took her to the class room and I followed with the camera (I wanted to have pictures of her 1st day of nursery) I'm sure all the other parents must of thought that we were nuts. It was so cute to see her holding Carl's finger like a big girl walking down the hall and then going into class to play with all the kids. I think that day was harder for Carl and I that it was for Tory. We kept coming out of our classes to check on her, there we were peeping through the little window in to the class choking back tears coming to the realization that Tory had become a big girl and now was in nursery. The next picture is of what happens when Dad goes to nursery instead of his own class and then Tory being a goofball. So far the transition has been pretty easy, there were a couple of weeks when Tory would have melt downs as we would head toward nursery, thankfully she has some wonderful teachers who lover her and have made it so fun to be in there and now there are no more tears.
We have some amazing people in our ward, two of them would be Brother and Sister Carey. Brother Carey made a huge slip n slide on some of his property and then invited the youth to come play on it. So for mutual one Wednesday the young women, leaders and some parents all went up to it. I have to say it was quite a night. It was so much fun, all the girls had so much fun. It was just wonderful and such a great idea.
Tory and I had the opportunity to go on a little field trip with the preschool group to the fish hatchery. All the kids loved seeing all the different sizes of fish and feeding them. We plan to go back in the spring when the really big fish will be there for spawning.
Our dogs sure have it ruff!
Tory loves to play any piano that she can get to. These pictures are taken at church, but she loves to play ours as well. I sure hope that she will still be as interested when she is old enough for lessons.
Just a bit of Daddy Daughter fun.
I did attempt to plant a garden this year, I learned alot about what I will and won't do next year and I actually did get some nice fresh produce as well.
This is what my garden looked like at the end of May. I had Rhubarb, Tomatoes, onions, radishes, parsley, chives, beets and carrots planted.
Carl started to teach Tory about chores early, She loves to help him take out the trash too.
Grandpa John got a new boat this year, and we were lucky enough to get to go out on it. We got a lovely tour of the lake, went swimming and Carl being the brave man that he is decided to do a little cliff jumping (I think that he just wanted to see how high my blood pressure could get from the stress of him jumping) He thinks that it's so fun and I can't help but think of all the things that could happen to him. I hope that Tory doesn't get his daring trait.
And the BAG BALM strikes AGAIN! I ran out to take a meal to a family who just had a baby, Carl and Tory stayed home. I was gone no longer that ten minutes when I came home I heard the bath water running, I thought hmmm that's strange it kind of early for a bath. I proceeded to walk into the bathroom when I saw the baby doll on the toilet, COVERED in BAG BALM and then I saw Tory with it all in her hair. Carl was in there and just looked at me and said " I was only away from her for 30 seconds, I was talking to my Dad and then I turned back to her and this is what happened". All I could do was laugh. So this time the bag balm got Tory, the baby doll and our douvet cover. Must remember.... all it takes is a moment and look what can happen....
Tory trying to fit into Uncle Ian's size 15 boots, I think that she has a bit of growing to do.
Just the girls hanging out, Makenna, Kaelynn and Tory.
There aren't enough words to describe this picture other than every little girl needs a Daddy and every Man needs a Daughter. The bond that Carl and Tory have sure is wonderful, she just adores her Daddy and I know that Carl's world revolves around her.
One night I went for a walk with a friend and we ended up having this little puppy follow us. We couldn't find which home was his so I brougt him home with us. Carl about had a heart attack when I came to the door I assured him thought that he would only be staying the night and I would go looking for his home in the morning. He was such a good little puppy, he slept in our bath tub for the night and first thing the next moring I went for a drive in the area that we thought he was from, where we came across a lovely young couple who happened to be looking for their lost puppy. We found out that his name was Barnaby the beagle and his family was so happy to have him back.
This was Tory and my adventure this year, we got to go on Super Trip with all of our Young Women. This year we went to Priest lake to camp and hike for acouple of days along with playing in the water. We boated up to the upper lake, all the girls were in canoes and then we had one motor boat, 2 jet skis and a dingy. It was such a fun litttle ride, acutally it wasn't really little it took us awhile to get through the channel between the uppper and lower lake. We saw a moose along the way and lots of water fowl including loons which make such a great noise, I love it.
Tory's First Huckleberry experence, she couldn't get enough.
These are our mighty hikers
She looks so peacefull but actually she was having a bit of a temper tantrum and I happened to take the picture just as her eyes were closed.
Tory and Mariah playing in the water, Mariah is always looking out for Tory.
So funny story.... THE BISHOPS HIKE..... the bishops hike is a requirement for camp all the girls have to complete it in order to move up each year at camp. Since being in Young Womens I have either been pregnant or have an infant, so I haven't done one with our girls but, I always hear about how amazing they are. This year since I was going on super trip and bishop would be coming he would do the hike there. I was so excited and a little nervous, I was finally going to do it with the girls. I happened to ask the bishop a couple of time if he thought that I really could do it, me being such an avid hiker and in such good shape. He assured me though that the book that he got the hike out of said that we would be doing a family friendly hike. So I thought, ok I can do this........ well we got started and it was up hill, I thought ok, it's got to level out soon, this hike can't all be like this...... I got 3 quarters of a mile and thought that I was going to die. Bishop offered to take Tory for a bit, which didn't go over well with her. She ended up screaming the whole time he had her. So then I took her out of the pack and had a rest, put her back in the pack and realized there was no way I could do any more up hill. So I hiked back down to camp, I felt like such a loser. Who can't do a family friendly hike for pete's sake! One of my very sweet beehives, Annamae came back with me. We ended up having our lunch on the beach and laying by the water until everyone else came back. So here is the funny part. Later that night Bishop came up to me to show me that the hiking book really did say family friendly. He then realized that it was a hike on the the opposite page from the one that we did and the one that we did had a symbol of a bucket sweating...... no wonder there was no way I was making it to the top. Maybe some day though.
On the way back the current was going aginst the way that we wanted to be going, so we tied all the canoes with the girls in them to the boat and pulled them, it was quite the sight to see. All in all it was such a fun couple of days spent with all our amazing girls and Tory, who is a real camper now.
What a cutie patutie! These are just a few pictures that I took in our yard, Tory and I got these sunflowers at our farmers market. We couldn't let them go to waste.
